UK 10 Gigabyte Network – Too High an Aim
It is no secret that the UK is one of the world’s most developed countries, but a move to implement a 10 Gbps internet infrastucture system, might be too high an aim, even for such a well off country. The proposal is to boost the ability of the UK to gain access to the internet but people are seeing it as a move to unify the many government services to boost monitoring and surveillance attempts, a thing that most Brit’s are not liking. They do love the idea of having faster internet access but if it is to serve the government’s watchdog efforts, none want it.
The UK already has one of the most robust and widespread network infrastructures the world over so boosting already fast speeds would be a bit of an overkill. Other parts of the world are just beginning to see the benefits of internet access with respect to businesses and their citizen’s linking to the rest of the world. It is a good commercial idea to have a healthy internet infrastructure but too much may be too far for the recession has cost the government a lot of losses in terms of bailout money and it may be sometime before they do decide, and plans may remain as plans for some more years to come.
